The final of the CASSGB Young Clarinet Soloist Competition will be held at the Craxton Studios in London on 15th January.

For the first phase of the competition, applicants were asked to submit a recording of own choice repertoire as well as a set piece : Curiosity and the Cat by Tymon Zgorzelsk, which was the winning entry of the CASS clarinet composition competition held earlier this year. Six finalists have been selected to perform in the final, where they will choose their own repertoire to perform a 15 minute recital.

The jury panel will be CASSGB president Janet Hilton, and vice-president Andrew Marriner. They will be joined by David Campbell (ex-chairman of CASSGB). The prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be £1,500, £1,000 and £500 respectively.

The final will start at 4.30 pm and should be finished by 6.30 pm with the announcement of the winner at the end. Tickets are free of charge and there will be a limited number of tickets tickets available to CASS members and the public. Because of restricted seating at the venue, admission is strictly by ticket only. If you are interested in attending please email membership@cassgb.org.
