Solent Philharmonic Winds are excited to provide registration and programme details of the Wind Band Repertoire Masterclass with Dr. Tim Reynish MBE. It is a great opportunity for instrumentalists to explore and perform wind band repertoire under Dr. Reynish’s direction.

Dr. Reynish was Head of School for Wind and Percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music for 25 years. He has made a significant effort to develop to train and develop the RNCM Wind Orchestra, and they have recorded many recordings. You can find his recordings on Spotify or YouTube. Although Dr. Reynish has retired as Head of the department and he then has been appointed to the prestigious staff of the International Chamber Music Studio at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is a world renowned conductors and musicologist of wind orchestra and wind band repertoire. He published a book titled “Making it Better”, a search on British Wind Music from 1981-2008, a personal look at twenty-seven years of repertoire development.
Dr. Reynish has conducted many of the principal professional wind orchestras in Asia, Europe, North and South America; these include civilian bands such as Dallas Wind Symphony, State of São Paulo Symphonic Band, Brazil, Volga Wind Orchestra of Saratov, Russia, Cordoba Symphonic Band, Argentina, Philharmonic Winds – Singapore, Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra and leading military bands including the “President’s Own” US Marine Band, Staff Band of the Norwegian Army, US Military Academy West Point, Singapore Armed Forces Band, Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra Zagreb, Hungarian Army Symphonic Band Budapest, Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, and the Bands of HM Royal Marines.
The Masterclass will take place on 20th and 21st May 2023 at Oaklands Catholic School, Stakes Hill Road, Waterlooville PO7 7BW and provides a total of at least Eight Hours under Dr. Reynish’s leadership and tutelage, you will be exploring, playing and understand the sonority and knowledge of the wind band repertoire, expand and deepened your understanding of wind band music.
We have selecting from compositions by Luis Serrano Alarcón, Derek Bourgeois, Bill Connor, Adam Gorb, Terence Greave, Kenneth Hesketh and Guy Woolfenden.
Registration is open to musicians from all wind band sections of at least Grade 7 standard or equivalent.
