Christ Church at Whetstone, Oakleigh Park North, N20 9AR
The Ionian Clarinet Choir is the UK’s longest running clarinet choir, having been set up by woodwind teacher Roy Upton-Holder in November 1970. Although retired and living in Welshpool he still keeps an eye on proceedings. The choir has a vast library of music together with a selection of clarinets at its disposal, from the small and shrill A flat through to the contra alto and contra-bass clarinets. The normal line up would include E flat, up to four B flat parts, alto, bass and the two contras. The choir is always happy to take on new members and concerts tend to be in the north London/south Hertfordshire area but travels further afield from time to time. Players are welcome who are able to play parts on their own and are good at sight-reading.
