April 5 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

£3

Your host and mentor for the session Katmuss is an Advanced Postgraduate from the Royal Northern College
of Music and has studied with Opera North’s principal clarinet Colin Honour, former principal of the RLPO, Nicholas Cox and contemporary bass clarinettist Sarah Watts.
Kat also has experience in a range of genres, including jazz, salsa, samba and folk music.

The session will last for 3 hours, starting at 2:00pm and finishing at 5:00pm. We have the actual chapel for this session so there will be quite a lot of room and the
acoustics should be excellent.

The main aim of the day is to introduce and develop group playing abilities, tips and tricks and listening skills specific to woodwind ensembles and the smaller group. The format will take the form of a 15 minute or so warm up, a run through and practice of the two pieces we have for you, we’ll then take a break and go for a full performance session of the pieces in the second half. The first piece we have is an arrangement of songs from ‘The Jungle Book’ by Trevor, and the second piece is a specially commissioned original composition ‘Florence’, by Ivan. Both have straightforward and challenging sections so there will be plenty to work on. Your part is attached to this email in order for you to have a look through before the day, if possible. There is also an audio recording of the pieces to assist. As stated on the sign-up form, the workshop will be both film and audio recorded for the benefit of marketing the workshops in future. The first half of the session will be
for the filming and the second half used for the audio recording.

Please bring your instrument, a stand, a pencil and, if needed, a stand light. We really hope you enjoy the day and look forward to seeing you there!

STILL SPACES FOR CLARINETS AND AN ALTO SAXOPHONE!

The venue is the Unitarian Chapel on Dunham Rd, Altrincham, WA14 4NS, just on Sylvan Grove. Parking is not good around there however, so it is advised that you
use the Stamford Quarter car park. Make your way around the back of the hall on Sylvan Grove to the chapel on arrival.
